At Klokwiz Enterprises, we specialize in repairing high-end quality ships bells like this Chelsea. The 1902 clock was located at an estate sale and was not striking properly. In addition to needing a routine service the half hour strike limiting spring was broken. This spring lifts the lock lever to limit last hammer drop to one bell, thus striking the half hour bells. As with many Chelsea repairs it requires ingenuity as many parts are not available to the general public. A replacement spring was manufactured and installed in our shop.
Chelsea serial # 6231 dates to 1902 production only a handful of years after they started operations.
